Kahlua / Lily Pics

Here are some pictures of our two chocolate labs from 2012. They certainly keep us entertained.

First picture we took of their growth at 11 weeks.

Last picture we took of their growth at 18 weeks.
Very innocent look of Lu's.

Lu trying to jump onto the couch but still to little to do it by herself.

Kahlua trying to get Lily to play with her.

If you first don't succeed, try again.

Lu loves to sit on the steps.

Deciding what to do.

Decides to stick her head between the stair bars.

And now her entire body.

Laying together taking a nap before I interrupted.

Got all my chocolates in the kennel.

Lily doesn't like to be outside by herself so she'll wait by the door. Now she's teaching Kahlua to do that too, except it doesn't stick for very long.

Kahlua loves to play with Dad in his arms.

Kahlua tried to push Joshua off the bed while sleeping.

Playing side by side.

This is when Lu found she can hold more than one toy in her mouth.

Our Second Puppy!!!

We got our second chocolate lab and named her Kahlua or Lu for short. We had first pick at the females and there were five to choose from. The breeder brought out 3 of the 5 more quiet / calm puppies.

All three were so incredibly adorable but one of them caught our eye. She was the only one that was interested in us and not the grass. She also had this cut below her eye which we thought was cute. It made me believe that she was a tough girl.

We had Lily in the car because we were going to Milwaukee straight afterwards since my brother was in town. Lily was going nuts in the car because she could smell the dogs but we couldn't bring her in while we were choosing.

Lily was not happy to see Kahlua. A lot of sniffing and a lot of head being hung downwards. I think she was jealous since I had Kahlua in my lap for the entire ride to Milwaukee. But once we got to my parents place, she was the best sister to Kahlua. We could see a friendship start to form.

It's funny because as I write this almost 8 months later, Kahlua was not a calm or quiet dog. She also was not a super tough girl but she gets tougher every day.

Kahlua has been a great addition to our family and the two dogs definitely keep each other company and get into trouble together. Lily is no longer lonely when we are out of the house and they definitely tire each other out.

Dog Paddle @ Goodman Pool

Every year at the end of swimming season, Goodman Pool in Madison does a dog paddle aka dog swimming before it empties its pools. Since we knew we were going to get another dog at the end of the month, I figured I'd spend some good quality time with her (Joshua was working).

It was a lot of fun watching her swim in clear water as opposed to the river at the park. It didn't even phase Lily that there were other dogs there. As long as she had her tennis ball, she was happy.

Best Investment

Seriously one of the smartest purchases for Lily we have gotten this year. Great way to cool down on a hot summer day.

Lily's First Swim

Joshua was a bit sad that Lily and I did all those events without him. So we spent a couple of hours at the dog park where there's a dog "beach" and a pier to jump off of.

This was Lily's first go at the whole water thing after the disaster at the Capital. It was incredibly funny to watch. It was like a little kid testing out the water very carefully. But she's a very good swimmer, not so much on the jumping off the dock yet though. I have a feeling she'll be fine in the future.

Retrieving her ball from the water

Can't let that ball get out of her sight

She is loving to retrieve her ball from the water

Uncertain and being very carefully

She's got a pretty good style
